Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 August 2026

a.wales (“we”, “our”, “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Who we are

a.wales is a bilingual AI service built for Wales. We provide AI chat, image and video generation, and related content through the a.wales website.

What data we collect

  • Chat messages and information you provide while using the service
  • Images you upload (for editing or video generation)
  • Subscription and payment information (via Stripe) — such as email address and payment details
  • Basic technical data (IP address, browser type) for security and performance
  • Language preference and local storage settings on your device

How we use your data

  • To provide and improve the AI service
  • To process subscriptions and payments
  • To respond to enquiries and support users
  • To maintain security and prevent misuse

Storage and retention

Chat history is stored mainly on your own device (local storage). We do not currently keep a permanent record of every conversation on our servers. Generated images and videos are processed to deliver the service and are not normally retained long-term.

Payment data is handled by Stripe and retained according to their privacy policy.

Third parties

We use trusted service providers to run a.wales:

  • xAI for AI models (chat, image, video)
  • Stripe for payments and subscriptions
  • Vercel for hosting the website

We do not sell your personal data.

Your rights (GDPR)

Under UK / EU data protection law, you have the right to:

  • Request a copy of your data
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate data
  • Ask us to delete data (where applicable)
  • Object to or restrict processing
  • Complain to the ICO if you are unhappy
